Seakayaking adventure in Stockholm archipelago

The ultimate Stockholm archipelago experience! You glide silently through calm waters and camp on an island where White-tailed eagles are frequently seen in the sky above. A knowledgeable and experienced guide will take you to a large range of islands and explain their exciting history. One evening a skilled chef will join you at the camp and cook a fabulous Swedish meal. The archipelago in summer doesn’t get any better than this

There are some 13 000 islands to choose from, so you can rely on interesting waters whether you are a beginner or an experienced kayaker. You choose your own kayak. Whether you prefer a fast one-man kayak or a more spacious and stable two-man kayak or something in between, that is up to you. After a briefing in paddling techniques and safety measures at base camp Västernäs on Rådmansö, you pack your food and personal belongings into the kayak’s waterproof compartments.

Then it’s high time to grab the paddles and head for the thrilling seascape of tree-clad islets and the bare rocks of the outer skerries. The pace is easy so that everyone can really take in and enjoy the magnificent surroundings. The water is clear and you will get close to fish as well as sea birds and plants.

Lunch will be served on a beach by the nature reserve of Riddersholm, and after some afternoon kayaking with perhaps a swim or two, it will be time to set up camp. Everybody helps out in putting the tents up and prepare dinner, maybe fresh fish and vegetables or a barbeque. Birds are abundant here and you will be accompanied by squeaking Eiders, Goldeneyes, Gulls and Terns. After dinner you will have time to reflect on the day and learn more about the king of the archipelago - the White-tailed Eagle.

You will wake up to the sound of water and a fresh sea breeze. A sturdy breakfast will be served to give you energy for a whole day’s kayaking though an area rich in sea birdlife.

The cruise ends at Base camp Västernäs. A special breed of hens will bid you welcome while picking food off the ground. As you contemplate the journey that mixed leisurely kayaking and knowledge of nature, you will be served coffee or tea with a home baked cake.
